 Why the love for Ibanez?
I've noticed that on here people give a lot of love to the Ibanez brand.
I've never owned one and have rarely played them.
Here's a nice softball question for everyone...
Why do you like Ibanez?

o gosh... where do i begin
the FEEL... i'm a wide and thin neck type of person and ibby just knows how to do it on that end for sure. they make fairly affordable guitars that new players can get and not feel like they got some crappy package deal although ibanez makes a few of those too. they makes some classic effects as well which is nice... i own a 7 string and 2 basses from these guys and haven't had ANY problems with any of them aside from some minor like, hardward(strap knobs) issues. the pickups are good for what you pay imo although they could be hotter in some areas but they are solid guitars and play like a dream...
i could go on but i want to see what others have to say about them

they hold their tuning well, they can do a bit of everything.

Well, outside of the obvious differences in tone from a Les Paul and a Stratocaster, Ibanez guitars, at least the RG470 I have, has a very fast neck, low action, and holds it's tuning very well. It's not a very expensive axe, but after owning it for several years, I wouldn't mind getting a more expensive one at all. They can be very pretty, they are very versatile in their sound, although it seems most owners are shred-heads and metal players. But the more I think about it, the less I can put into words...I just love 'em. I love the look, I love the feel. What else can be said? For some reason, Dean and Schecter never had the draw for me that Ibanez does. Maybe things are different now, I dunno...guess I need to drag my butt to the music store to find out.

Ibanez has been my overall favorite brand since the early 80's.
they make a giutar or bass for everybody...super high end to beginner instruments, and everything in between.
they make super guitars for metal,jazz,blues...you name it, and they make (or have made ) it....and made it VERY well.
since the 70's Ibanez has always been for the players , by the players.
they have a vision and commitment to build the guitars that players want.
they have continued to grow and change...keeping up with our demands.
here is a list of my Ibanez guitars and why i like each of them.
1. 1977 Artist...its the best Les Paul i have ever played. it has an ebony board,24 frets, sweet humbuckers, and "that" feel.
2. 2005 (?) RGT42DXFM...fast neck ,TONE (2 lace alumitones)killer looks, one of the best "floyds" ever built , and although different from the Artist it has "that" feel
3. 1991 (?) 540S...thinnest neck i have played, killer tone ( duncan invader and 2 hot rails ),it looks hot , and has (yet again) "that" feel
these are what i have at the moment...i have had several other Ibanez guitars over the years and wish i had not sold them....but, what is...is.

i thought of a little more to add....
i love my SG's , but want only a very specific few.
most SG's have the neck set too far forward on the body for me , so the only SG's i want are the ones without the spacer between the front pickup and fretboard.
i love my Charvel model 6's...but the rest of the Charvel Jackson line dosent do much for me.
but Ibanez the brand is cool to me...i am very picky , but they have made SO many different models that i love.
the list is huge : RG's , S series,Pro Lines, Artist's, the old Destroyers , and Rocket Roll's , the jazz boxes, the exotic wood series of acoustics , the American Master's, the USA Customs , some of the Road Star's , the old P series les paul copies , the X series of "radical" body shapes from the 80's....thats what comes to mind at the moment.
from the 1970's to now, Ibanez has made and makes a ton of guitars ,basses , effects ,amps, ect. that excite me as a player and collector.
no other brand has done that...they have a few here and there that turn me on, but not a huge ,broad line like Ibanez has.
does any part of my ramblings make sense ?
thanks for listening

they call that preachin' to the choir dont they ?
the real question is....does it make sense to someone who isnt an Ibanez fan ?
its all about spreading the word....bringing more fellow fretboarders to the Ibanez brotherhood.
LOL

i don't play my Ibenez much anymore, but i have an Ibenez RG 560, about a '94 or so, and it was one of my main stage instuments for a long time, however i can say why the brand is so sucessful: their mid-range guitars are great quality for the price, you can beat the piss out of them and they stay in tune, like somebody already said: they're versatile, when i was a teenager i went from playing metal in a band to playing in my school jazz band on the same guitar.
Ibenez is not my brand of choice anymore, but it's pretty easy to see why they are well-liked by so many musicians.
my 2 cents.

and you're right about the whole mid-range line of instruments really... can get a long living guitar for cheap from those guys

all this Ibanez talk has made me miss my old RG760 so much that i just bought another one.
this is all original and is in the awesome looking heather pearl color.
my old one was jewel blue.
these baby's are so sweet...a shreders dream.
the original Ibanez edge is the best locking vibrato bridge ever made in my opinion.
yes, i called it a vibrato bridge...which is the actual name.....NOT tremelo.
that fudge up came from Fender.....they are the ones who mis-named it.
and the screw up stuck.
tremelo is a variation in volume.
vibrato is a variation in pitch.
