Again I'll have to tell you to just play it in the store. Best way to get it hands down. I'll suggest something in the high gain department, no muff's for the type of punk you're probably playing.

something smooth

Well, I own one, and I don't really consider it smooth. It's pretty rough. It's a solid pedal, but won't you be playing basically all clean for reggae?

You'll need to find something that not only is a good match for the type of music and style your playing, but something that matches your amp as well. If your running a tube amp and just need that extra push then an overdrive type pedal is the way to go. If your solid state you need a distortion pedal to get your tone from.

Like Calli said, play them in the store and see which one you like.

I could also rant about getting a new amp that won't require you to use a pedal, but I'll refrain. Rolling Eyes

well ...distortion pedals are not usually smooth ...they tend to be grainy and distorted.

overdrive is what i think of as smooth.

isnt reggae very brite and clean sounding ?

take your guitar , and amp with you to the store , and try the different pedals.

its all about what works for YOU ....try them all .

THAT is the answer....you have to play a piece of gear to know how it will work for the job you need it to do.

there isnt really a short cut ...you have to do the work.
