i would personally do your best to find an acoustic guitar that someone doesnt want anymore, but still plays. especially if it is a guitar that most people would find difficult to play. once you have learned how to play on that guitar, moving up to a nicer acoustic and especially an electric guitar will be an easy transition.
just remember, it takes a couple months to learn how to play, but a lifetime to master and become a total geek about.

I agree with thezackpew. And also, should your passion for the instument reach higher places, go look at any of the Fender Mexican made lines. The Teles and strats are great . I've been playing for 31 years and my guitar colletion is pretty diverse but I still own three of them. They are built with care and sound quite good stock. And they are cheap! You can have one in your home from Ebay in less than a week for a couple of hundred bucks! There are many other options, just take your time and have fun.

I would suggest to start with a decent accustic and learn the basics. Why a decent accustic? Simple it will increase your fingers strength (?) but won't make your fingers bleed each and every time you play it. If you want to buy an electric badly you should consider only good or medium quality stuff don't buy cheap electric guitars coz it is a waste of money and time.

If you want to play some serious stuff, or your inpatient buy an electric guitar. I know a lot of people quite playing guitar just because they didn't have the patience to practice on an acoustic or classic guitar.

Alright, if you really want to get good at guitar and be a very well balanced one at that, then buy the acoustic. Trust me. It will build up your finger strength and dexterity so that when you buy the electric you'll have the chops and stamina to really shred on it.

If you are serious about it, buy a classic or accustic and learn to play some simple chord songs and simple classic songs, you will be able to make progress quite fast and when you play for a year or so get an electric if you feel like it.

ya I agree, I learned on an acoustic and stayed on it for about 6 months, I eventually bought a medium quality electric, and didn't like it much at all, so I kept playin the acoustic, but by the time I got a high quality Gibson, I could really play it good, playin the acoustic for so long gave me the confidence I needed on the electric.

I'd say, get the best accoustic you can manage to get. The reason is if you start out on an electric you will take 10 times longer to master playing cleanly. Distortion is too tempting a beast to deal with when you're starting out. There's a reason almost every 14 year old in every guitar center in the world always seems to play Enter Sandman. Distortion makes even the sloppiest player sound half way decent. An accoustic on the other hand, requires skill and practice to sound even slightly good. Plus, your stamina will increase so much faster on an accoustic that when/if you do move on to an electric, you'll be able to play twice as long and in most cases twice as fast.
For electric only types, play bass for a couple of hours. Then go back to your electric guitar! Man! What a change that is and you're fingers are a hundred times stronger!

In my "expert" opinion, start off with an acoustic. It will build your muscle fibers better than electric because it's generally harder to play an acoustic in that you have to push the strings harder to keep from getting a buzzing noise from the frets, at least that's how it is on beginner level acoustics. After you've been playing acoustic for a while and play an electric, it seems so much easier. Pretty much what RobertLeeKing said. You're setting yourself up as a better player if you start out on acoustic.

When you pay a lot of cash for an acustic it's a very comfortable guitar whitch don't need so much strenght...

Very true. But for beginner acoustics it's a different story.
