I managed to get one pretty much brand new for $300. it's got a really nice clean sound but I'm not to keen on the heavier distortion. does anyone have anyone have a set of settings I could swipe?... if anyones been down this road that is..

the thing about Vox is that it's distortion is a little old-school (to me). But I still like it. it's responsive without stealing tone.
I keep my mids scooped a little, but it's never gonna be anything other than what it is.
choose one of the distortion settings, gain up, mids scooped. that's what i do on mine.
Check me out on myspace to hear mine

i own the ad100vt and i agree the distortion isnt really all that great. especially if you are into metal
for something heavier i usually stay on the uk modern or 80's. modern's mids are scooped and 80's has more depth to me
one thing that really helps is a BBE sonic maximizers. i own one and they do a fantastic job of cleaning up the distortion, you see loud speakers, like ours, have a hard time with the high frequencies, so when cranked it sounds pretty muddy because the low frequencies reach your ear first and are a little louder, what the sonic maximizer does is "speed" up the high frequencies. trust me it works.
it would be smart to invest in one. only 100 bucks

i have wanted to get a maximizer for years, but never seem to break down and buy one.
a few friends of mine swear by them.
