1974 MARSHALL SUPER LEAD FULL STACK - $2900
I'm posting this ad for a friend of mine who is not Internet-savvy. The amp is in Gainesville, Florida. You'll want to call him directly with questions. His name is Neil. He's British, like the amp.
This is NOT a reissue. It is a vintage Marshall, made in England. This is essentially the same amp that many rock stars used throughout the late 60s and 70s, and I've played through it. It has the tone of GOD.
Seriously, I've owned a lot of amps over the years, including a few Marshalls, and I thought I knew what a badass amp sounded like. But when I plugged Neil's vintage Les Paul into this baby and turned it up to about 6, it was the most amazing sound I've ever heard in my life. The power is phenomenal, naturally, but what REALLY gets you is the TONE, the sustain and the multidimensional harmonic overtones. Every nuance that you do with the guitar sounds instantly 100 times better through this thing. If I had the money, I would buy it from him right now. Unfortunately, I do not.
Neil is a vintage collector and only buys the best stuff. Unfortunately for him -- and fortunately for you -- he has enormous overhead right now due to some real estate investments that aren't working out as planned. So a few things have to go, including this beautiful tone master.
He's pretty firm on the price, because he paid more for it than what he's asking. Remember, this is for a FULL STACK, and is all original -- with one modification: a master volume was added. However, the master volume could easily be removed and the amp would be returned to original configuration. But with 100 watts going through eight 12-inch Celestions (original speakers), I think you'll want the master volume.
Everything works as it should, and, as I said, the amp sounds AWESOME.
Cosmetically, it's about average for a 30-year-old amp that has been used on stage. Note grill cloth on bottom cab.
As for the photos, these are the first round of photos. I have already told him that he needs to take some better, clearer photos of the amp, which he is working on. I decided to go ahead and put this ad up and will update it with the new photos later. Or, when you talk to Neil, he could get his wife to e-mail you the new photos.
Neil's phone number is 352-665-5129.
