I don't know of any "tricks" per se. I have had several Floyd Rose and Floyd Rose Licensed bridges over the years, and it has been my experience that they all tend to be different. Some work well and are easy to set up and work on, and some are just difficult all the way around. I am not a Floyd Rose fan exactly, but the Floyds I have on the guitars I have now, I like a lot. You will just have to get it and see...

Yes.
If you aren't good with setting up a Floyd Rose, have a professional do it. Bridge set up goes a long way toward obtaining the proper feel for doing the tricks you want to learn. Once it is properly set up, go to You tube and watch videos of various guitarists like Joe Satriani, and Steve Vai and pay close attention to the things they do with the bar. The best way to learn these things is to watch others do them.

OOOOOOOHH,..... those were cheezy whammy tricks. Especially the first poor guy. Herman reminds me of a cross between the great Kat and Vinnie Vincent. Fast and crazy but totally worthless. Just my opinion.

+ 1. There isn't much worse than thinking the locking nut is tight then using the trem bar half way through a song only to have your guitar go out of tune.

love my floyd....another is make sure you have the spring tension right . makes changing a broken string easy on stage . for each different set of strings you will use may require a different spring tension.

WELL,when you change strings-put something under the butt of the bridge to keep it from falling back and getting unbalenced. They actually make sometging for this.I have even used the pad that you can fit under the bridge to keep you from pulling back in over excitment and breaking a string. Some folks change onne string at a time.Thats fine. You really need a video on how to set up.Once set up-Shit!No prob.Until then--whew!!!!You also (sometimes)have to screw or unscrew the 2 screws in the back to get the proper balence. The trick is getting it PERFCETLY level!!!!!Trial and error!!!!Get a video or get someone that really knows THESE (floating)Bridges.

tis so true... when i first got my trem, i had no idea how to use it nor how to take care of it and that was something that would happen to me all the time

Overtightening the locking nut is very bad for the guitar. You should tighten them slightly past the point where you're feeling resistance. It should be tight enough that you can't unscrew it with your fingers, but no tighter than that, otherwise you can actually damage the guitar.
Also, unless you can actually feel the nut move or it rattles around while you're playing, it should be tight enough, if the strings go out of tune there's a good chance they haven't settled in yet or haven't been streched enough.
As for tricks
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6TpYcA9bSaU <-- The dimebag squeal is fun, and shown to us by the man himself.
Search for some Joe Satriani stuff, I find him to be one of the most tasteful users of the tremolo. Steve Vai is worth watching, but honestly, nobody but Vai fans are going to want to hear his style of playing eitrher.

All the tremelo I have ever used just kills the tuning and isn't worth the trouble in my opinion. The only thing they let you do that you can do otherwise is bend down.
You really souldnt NEED it most stuff you can do creatively with bends anyway.

i like mine , it goes both ways , if you dont learn how to set it up right ..yes it will be a pain in the ARSE and all you will get is out of tune trouble. I only have to tune mine while playing ....is a small tweak if at all . And that is after an amount of bending and dive bombing and truck horns and elephants and "LARGE" motorcycles leaving the stage..and of course the pitched up squeel"
It all is taking the time to learn how to set up your "T" bar in the first place and taking the time to do it.....for some i think i have heard it only takes them about 30 min from start to finish..mine (me) sometimes an hour.
