John Suhr, guitar maker has an excellent line of pickups that he uses in his line of guitars. I have the pleasure of owning a set of his V60LPS pickups and SSC system. The SSC is like magic! It consists of a replacement trem cover plate that is approx 1" bigger that has an air coil consisting of about 5-600 turns that is wired to a small PCB that goes in the control cavity. Wired between the ground leads of the pickups and the ground connection to the volume pot. About 1/2" by 3/4" the PCB has 2 trimpots that adjust the SSC to allow for different pickup impedences. The magic is that it kills the 60 cycle hum! All without changing the tone! Yep, real single coil percussiveness and sweetness without having to resort to a reverse-polarity pickup, stacked coils or a dummy pickup. In fact, it adds "something" by removing the hum.
