Post Speed lessons not metal based?
Now, theres millions of lessons out there for metal style speed. 3 note per string and arpeggios. But im having trouble simply getting that little bit faster in traditional blues style. Two notes per string, buddy guy style blues "shred" and jimmy page are kinda what i mean
Anyone know of any good lessons for this style?

I'm assuming you are talking about soloing.

Speed is really easy. alls you have to do really is just run through your scales on whatever sequences you want. like eigth notes or sequences of three or four or whatever. its all about practice......monotony.

He's really not a blues guitarist, but I would definately recommend Shawn Lane for speed, non-metal styling.

His primary style is Jazz. You could learn some difficult theory while you're at it.

yeah, definitely check out some jazz for un-metal speed. I have to say, shred gets incredibly boring after a while. That's when some jazz / blues influences can really make things interesting Very Happy

you can make up your own little lessons using the same thought in the metal ones. By taking like the Pentatonic scale and playing the first 3 notes then move the pattern up on and so on up the scale. so if your playing a A pentatonic you would play A C D move it one play C D E and move it up one D E G and so on gives it a cool sound and you can play it as a 4 note on the scale also. Hope this helps a little

It seems to me like you don't need lessons, you just need to focus on basic speed principles with what you already know.

Let me put it this way. You said that you already know blues riffs and licks, you are just trying to get a bit faster. So instead of trying to learn new stuff...

Just take the stuff you know and..

Focus on playing without tension.

Play SLOWLY with a metronome and bump it up bit by bit.

Focused and consistent practice is how you build speed, no matter what genre.

Hope that helps..
