He I'am planing to record some of my songs at home do you know any good soundcards (reasonable price range please) that would cope with recording without a big loss in sound quality?

I have been using the Creative Labs Sound Blaster Extigy forever. I think this particular model has been discontinued, but I think all of the Creative Labs/Sound Blaster stuff is OK for the price...

According to my lead guitarist mate / home recording guru, the biggest problem is latency - the time difference between the sound you play and the sound you hear.

In general, I agree the Creative Sound Blaster Extigy is the dog's bollocks. However, for music recording, I've now invested in a Mackie Tapco USB interface (around £100). This is brilliant and they now do a Firewire version!

Hope this helps?
