I did that with my 81 gibson. I bought it for 300 it was all sanded down but the serial # and paid 1100 for the paint job and a few new parts. Still have the org parts though. Its now worth close to 4 times that. I also restore my Kramer striker usa strat. got all the org. parts from the guy I bought the guitar from and put in EMG KH20 in it set it up and did all the work myself. I finished it in Nov. It plays and sounds great. Have fun restoring your guitar.

I actually got an Ovation acoustic.
My cousin had one, didn't want it, and my dad got it for me for the holiday season. I'm really happy with it actually. I'm not an acoustic afficionado, but it'll be sweet for recording.

Ovations play sweet at least all the ones I've played. I think you going to love it. For recording I found that you sound put a mic in front of where the sound hole would be and also one pick up to give it a fuller sound aslo you can put a mic in back of guitar also to even make it fuller and darker.

That is a pretty neat idea, to mic it as well as having it plugged in. Thanks for that one.

And just for some added advice, if you're looking to experiment, try a Mighty Mite neck. If you like strats anyway, they're great, I have one on an old Squier body, with new pickups and bridge etc. It was my own little project, and I'm very very pleased with how it turned out.

A while back (in a thread I can't remember) some folks were talking about acrylic and see-throuh guitars. Ampeg's got a plexiglass model back in production (not sure how long they have been).

How is it relevant to this thread? My friend got one. Don't know why or how, but he showed up with it yesterday.

COOL !
what model is it ?
i have had 6 different Ovations / Celebrity's over the years ...and loved them all.
i have settled on my 2 favorites , and sold the rest.....keeping my 1990 , and 1998 collectors models......they do everything i need an acoustic to do.
oh, by the way ...in case you cant tell ...i am an Ovation fan
