In this part of the 2nd solo in Welcome Home Sanitarium by Metallica, it says hammer on in the tab and I've seen videos of this being performed live and I have absolutely no clue how I'm supposed to hammer on when I'm playing 2 strings... could some help me?

it is an overdub in studio version, it's normally played by two guitars, on the concert Kirk plays only one voice

i could see it working if you were hammering on the same frets on two strings but two different frets is extremely difficult

It's studio version as someone wrote... In Master of Puppets is simmilar situation before first solo... Remember that recorded songs are often different than playied live Razz

mistakes on an official Metallica tablature book? doubtful. some people may think that the're mistakes because they tend to switch the way they play live a bit to alter from studio versions..

play each line with ever you are watching or playing to and play the one that sounds right. As one said most of the Cd,s have overdub on them and they try to get every guitar on there. And like guitarfreaky said its not from the band its from someone that has transposed it from what ever company. Most have a lot of mistakes from the printing company they send them to. Some give you the correction and some don't.

Yes, this is true. Most of the time, the tab book you have has been transposed by some guy from the publishing company. Doesn't have any connection to the band that you are trying to learn a song from.

Yea, I studied the riff. James and Kirk play it live as a harmony and in the studio,as per Metallica, Kirk played the melody overdubbed. Kirk plays it on the high E live.
