Post Pro Tools EQ tips
Hi all,

ive been using pro tools for years and have released many cds ive been happy with, I'm recording some backing tracks for gigs at the moment and I'm trying to get into mastering and getting a more professional sound, from what I can tell EQ has a lot to do with this.

using pro tools 7.3 which has a monster 7 band, I have a general idea but it would be great if I could find some pics of general EQ setting for bass, kick, acoustic guitar etc.

and help or links you guys know of would be awesome, cheers all!!

happy shreddin!

Way too expensive... Digidesign is the originator of ProTools correct? I wondered and figured this was a good place to ask.

yes Digidesign is the inventor of pro tools

if you can get it, do it.. apart from my instruments its the most useful thing ive ever owned, maybe even more than my instruments.. Ive done so many recordings (and still do) its saved me tens of thousands, even with all the extra plug ins, mics, computers, monitors and engineering courses ive bought/done.

is 300 to expensive? you can get a great setup for about that. i mean, you would need to buy mics but that's a given

hey, i use one and i know some pros that record live sound with it. they just mix out of the auxes. no, it's not something to be used for like recording in a studio for EVERYTHING but i think it works well for small home stuff and maybe some larger things from time to time. it's got some nice preamps in it

I have checked them out but sometimes I use 4 mics when recording acoustic guitar (a habit I'm trying to kick cos its a pain in the ass). I use the Digi 002, the 003 is out and it has a few extras, the best being 2 separate headphone inputs with separate volume controls. everyone raves about how much better the pre amps are then the 002 just like they did when the 002 replaced the 001 but to be honest i cant hear much difference between all 3 and you can alter the sound so much after i dont think it really matters.

once I forked out some real cash for some great mics It really started coming alive

but i agree with everything you say
