Preffered Pick?

Postby Munkyman » Mon Mar 03, 2008 5:00 am

Good day to you all! I thought I'd start my day by starting a thread that asks what pick/s do you prefer?
I use a 1 mm USA Nylon pick by Jim Dunlop, I have some Tortex picks aswell, those are Dunlop aswell :)

You may be asking yourself "What is the point of this thread?"

The answer to that would be.. Nothing. Now go ahead and answer, because it will pleasure me. 8)

We covered this literally a couple of weeks ago... for me, Planet Waves 1mm JS nylon is my pick of choice these days, although it used to be D'Andrea Brites 1mm nylon (which they haven't made for some years as far as I can tell).

We're a lad back group, not much deleting or finger pointing. The search option up-top really has been selling like, whatever the opposite of hotcakes is though.

Actually, there is no need to apologize at all. This is totally not your fault. If our GML forum had CATEGORIES like it should, we could have easily pointed you to the post about picks, but instead, it's buried miles deep in a pile of unrelated topics that the sucky search feature cannot find.

If we had categories it would be a lot easier... I really want to re-read that Jesus thread we had--now I'm like WTF and would rather start a new Satan thread.

Now that you mention it, I did find it weird that the forum had no categories :?
I've never experienced one this messy

My favorite pick is this one pick I've had for an eternity (Have never been used since my dad's f----ing guitar just got fixed this year so I'm a n00b). I found it between my bed and a wall, I was like.... "Wow.... How long has is been since I've seen that pick?"

There is nothing on it to mark the brand. But it's really cool, from what I'm guessing is that it's .75mm. Other than that I'm fine with Peavey .5mm picks.

The categories were taken from us without warning. They were promised back, but it appears that promise was empty.

I've been looking into it and it would cost $6/month to setup a forum and have it any way we want it.

Dunlop Ultex 1.0mm for me.

O.o

No, he had the guitar since his High School days, and failed to fixed it up an teach me guitar so I would be somewhat decent today!! That frustrates me, my dad hates anything that has to do with his past (Namely Rock bands) so I neglects to have anything to do with me and my (his) RGX. Sad days I tell you Sad Days

Hell, for that matter, I could run a forum application on my site space. I just use it to have some on-line storage anyway. If you guys really feel strongly about this, I'd be more than happy to set up one of the many free forum apps up out there on http://www.pixelboxcreative.com. There'd be no mandatory cost to you guys, and we could have categories again.

There are things to consider....

1) I know I'm a designer and everything, but it is said that "the cobbler's son has no shoes". So designing the website would be a low priority for me. With that said, it's not like I'll never do it. Besides, I already have the free version of Vanilla Running on my server.

2) My hosting is via GoDaddy, so it is a shared server. I'm worried that large traffic may slow the site down pretty bad, but then again, it may not.

3) I'd need a few trustworthy people to be moderators. Actually, that doesn't seem to be a problem, I just need some people to be available and use good judgement.

4) The URL wouldn't be anything fancy like Guitar My Life. It'll probably be something confusing like http://www.pixelboxcreative.com/iplayguitar/ or http://www.pixelboxcreative.com/sherdmylife/ or something

Think about it and let me know. I won't do it unless several GML users are willing to make the switch. Maybe Greg will be inspired to fix the fucking categories if we all leave? I dunno.
