Well, it's just a matter of personal preference. Jackson does make excellent guitars for the metal scene, however, they can also be used in all sorts of genres, (though may not be everyone's pick of the crop- bad analogy). I have grown fond of the Jackson Kelly since it's sound, imo, is unmatched for metal for it's price range.

the quallity of jackson went down when fender bought them in 2002. it seems they have been picking it up maybe they will be back to there late 80's and 90's quality making. A lout of bands left jackson went to ESP and DEAN, cause the quality went to shit. right after.

The randy rhoades series is getting better (the rr-24) , and so is the KV and soliist. The dinkyis arent that good though.

I for one was gonna get a custom randy rhoades in 2002, but i took a while to get one (bout 1 year) ESP said 4-6 monthes took it and it beats the hell out of a few other Jacksons.

i have three Charvel Model 6's .... which are Jackson Soloists made in Japan in the late 80's , and i love them .

if i had to pick only 1 guitar , it would be my white Model 6

Yup, a huge Jackson fan here (ALERT!!!)
I once had a RX10D RR which i modified to the bone. After a couple of years i sold it. A bit later i bought a RR1, which was always my dream. But when i had it a couple of months, i played a Soloist, which played alot better then the RR1. The sound was kind of the same, but the feel was alot better and i personally liked it more. So i sold the RR1 to get that 2001 SL2H.
Here a couple of pics:

I have a DKMG dinky. I loved it until the guts started to not function properly. The output signal will randomly get weaker until I shake it or fiddle with the cable, which always fixes it, which would lead me to assume that there's a loose connection somewhere. I also I have a Charvel, I can't remember what the model is or what year it is. Right now it's in pieces, getting ready to be rebuilt.

I got a SWEET! jackson DKMG Dinky that plays awesome and looks awesome! i just didn't like the EMG-HZ in the bridge, but the neck sounds great, so I changed out the bridge for a Duncan Custom and it kicks ass now!! but the guitar only cost me $250 at a pawn shop, and it came with a hardshell case so new a new pickup is like nothing...
but I still prefer my new see through black cherry on a quilted maple top ESP/LTD EC-1000 Deluxe Eclipse W/ EMG 81/60 PUP's for metal, but for everything (including metal)I prefer both the Jackson and my black cherry metal flake ESP/LTD M-250 HSH W/ my favorite pickup combo the JB/59 with a hotrails in the middle!

I had the opportuity to go over one of the new USA-made Charvels yesterday. It was an amazing instrument.

i played a couple of different ones a while back ... they are NICE.
but too much cash for a bolt neck guitar that is really a fancy Fender ....

my old Ibanez RG760 , and RG770DX are still the sweetest bolt necks i have played.

my 97' RG270 is amazing, which is really odd since it's a cheaper model. i guess the 90's models were really good!?
