Dimarzio DP153 Fred pick-ups...

Postby NHBluesMan » Thu Mar 05, 2009 7:30 am

I was reading up on these but wanted to get some first hand opinions...

i play alot of blues-based rock stuff, but also range into ambient jazz and hard-rock and metal. I'm all about mid's in my tone (currently running a Boss EQ pedal to give a mid-boost to my EQ, ala Slash). Has anyone tried this or have it in a guitar? I've read thats its great for soloing/harmonics and gives a great overtone. I'm also a fan of Satch's sound, and i know he uses this as his bridge pick-up.

Thoughts?

P.S... i'd be putting this into the bridge position of my schecter C-1 Semi-Hollow w/ Piezo bridge, if that makes a difference
tune low, play hard, and floor it!!!

To me the Fred sounds a lot like the JB. It's a little sweeter in the upper midrange, but they sound incredibly similar to my ear.

Bridge position. He uses a custom PAF plus in the neck.
