MY BASSIST WANTS TO ADD A OD/DIST TO HIS TONE, HE'S USING A AMPEG SVT 1000.
I'M THE ONLY GUITARIST IN THE BAND..AND HE WANTS TO BEEF UP THE SOUND.
I THINK HE'S A GUITARIST TRAPPED IN A BASSIST BODY! WHAT SHOULD HE USE OR DO?

Check out the moogerfooger for the bass. i think it adds a little depth, but can be controlled to his liking. or maybe some kind of chorus effect

no, those two aren't going to help you beef up your sound much. the guitar will overkill the effects. i think an overdrive is perfectly fine especially in a one guitar band. it will add depth and grunge to your sound. and i say all this basing on the fact that you play with distortion...

my band's in a similar situation... only one guitar.

The OD should be used sparingly, but it works nicely during guitar leads/solos...
