I posted info on closing time on the other thread about this that you posted.
You should have this nailed in 3 days... 3 weeks will be plenty of time.

Yes please, i would like help.
This song here, God is an astronaut - All is violent, all is bright
(God is an astronaut is the bands name, and no as far as I care theyre not religious)
And, there are no tabs for this as far as I can tell, ive searched all the major tab sites.
Also, theres this one chord shape I just cant seem to get my fingers round, its from call of ktulu by metallica.
-----
-10-
--7-
-10-
--5-

(without using a capo )

Thanks..so umm, you know how to play it?
I like trying to start on a hard song then master it slowly. I guess I just learn faster when im thrown into the deep end.
Speaking of learning, have you any advice on how to train your ear?
My idea of ear training, is plug my guitar into the mix-mic on my stereo and try to play over the song. Which fails miserably.
Any ideas on that chord shape btw? I can play it keyboard style, but im definitely no MAB [cant switch styles in a heartbeat like him]
Have you seen any of his videos on youtube? Hes so f ing fast.... Much better than yngwie or steve vai IMO

Ok, heres how I got the song.
http://www.myspace.com/godisanastronaut
Theyve got it streaming on their myspace there ^^
Also, to get it in mp3, with some ingenuity, if you have a double-male 3.5mm cable, you can plug it from the sound out into the sound in on your computer and then record with a program like Audacity. Youll have to set the volume quite low, and the db-range quite wide to get the best quality, but it comes out pretty much mp3 quality. Neat trick aye , Its awesome for nabbing things from last.fm
Hey, guitarman, do you do much shredding? Im really keen to start shredding, but think im still too pathetic....tell me after how long did you start shredding?
Or what song was your first attempt?

when i first started learning to sweep and shred, it was all about learning it slow at first. and to be honest, it took me 4 years before i even started trying to learn that stuff. it's really hard if you don't know much about playing guitar at first. take your time. the tricks will come

give it some time? noway! i wanna be MAB right now! lol...
I think if I try learning it now, Id be setting my goals way to high. Which is good, because the more frustrated I get with being useless, the more im gonna practise
Have you heard of dream association learning? Im trying to find a couple mp3s which have ear training lessons, like ones that play two chords then say what the chords were. That would be cool, I could learn in my sleep Ill let you know if I find anything. unless ofcourse, you sound like your quite a pro, you might not need any further learning.

hahaha. a pro i am NOT. just a musician who is CONSTANTLY learning. even people like MAB are still learning new stuff to this day. you should look into his instructional videos that he sells. they teach you how to play his songs correctly

Well, ive come across a Steve vai tab, and although im not particlarily fond of steve, I will do anything to learn arpeggios. This tab was semmingly hand-picked to be good for learning, i dont know whats its called, it was jsut on Ultimate-Guitar.com
Wow, ok, I found a site with free video lessons and downloading them, but will take like a month to download the whole 4.9GBs... Hope its worth the wait
