Post Need advice, quick! Should I get this guitar?
I've been trying out guitars for about two weeks now. Out of all the guitars I've tried, the one I like the most is the Ibanez S Prestige (S2170SE).

I’ve been reading that there is a difference in quality between certain Ibanez manufacturers, such as Japan and Korea. Is this true? Should this factor into my decision over the Ibanez Prestige?

What do you think of the Ibanez S Prestige? Why or why not should I buy it?

I was considering also the RG Prestige, since it’s cheaper. What are the big differences between the RG and the S? How do they compare?

The S Prestige has only 22 frets. Will this affect tone in any way? If so, in what way?

I have read from guitar buying guides that one should try to get the dealer to lower the price. What are some good ways to get a dealer to do this?

Lastly, do you think the Ibanez S Prestige is worth the price?

P.S. The majority of guitars I’ve tried have been Ibanez and Fender. I found most of the lower (non-Prestige) models lacking in quality. Some Fenders I tried had bad action. Also, I think an Ibanez (especially with H/S/H setup) better fits my music style.

DEF go prestige... japan ones if you can. team j craft does good work. and as for the s or the rg, that's all up to you. i think the s's have a mahogany body(maybe i'm wrong. check the website) and the rg usually has basswood and a few mahogany models. the 22 frets do not affect tone but don't quite have a 2 octave range like the 24 fret models. and to bring the buyer down on a price be like, do you think we can do *insert amount here* instead of *other amount*? hope this helps

Prestige models are always nice. The difference between the RG and the S, is the S weighs like a pound less, and the body's contour is thin. But the RG has 24 frets. I've always heard that the lack of the botom two frets makes the neck pickup warmer, fuller, and more thick. But in all honesty, I've barely noticed a difference.

The factor that really plays into the difference between the Prestige S and RG, is would you rather have a lighter, thinner body? Or would you rather have the traditional SuperStrat body with shredtastic 24 frets?

It's rare, but from what I understand the S has a neckthru variant. I kno the RG does, I have a neckthru RG Prestige. So if you can find one of the two with neckthru, then def. go for it. But take what I said to consideration, because # of frets and body style may play a more important role than the way the body and neck are connected depending on the guitarist.

I agree with freaky man. Buy the Japan Ibanez. Youll be happier on down the line. Trust me....
