 Most Inspirational Guitarist?
Here I am, sitting all alone with my guitar, (not that I have anything against that) so I thought it might be fun starting a thread like this.
So who has been the most inspirational guitarist to YOU?

Roine Stolt of the Flower Kings... closely followed by Joe Satriani, Steve Morse, Steve Howe and John Petrucci.

We actually do have some old threads like this, but I'd say Adrian Belew/Robert Fripp.

But as you say, old And anyway, I can't seem to find anything here, it's all jumbled about.
And I forgot to name mine.
I would say, Steve Vai, Mick Thompson, John Petrucci and Munky(KoRn)

For me I would say Jason Becker, He not only inspired me with guitar player but also life. Along with that I'd say Marty Friedman and John Petrucci. I probably have about 20 inspirational guitarist, those 3 just stick out for me anyways.

Seems everyone mentions the old school pros, while I go mentioning Slipknot ^^
I suppose I'm just of the new, ignorant generation or something

Most inspirational guitarists:
James Hetfield: Was the one who made me pick up the guitar in the first place, so even if I don't take much inspiration from him these days, I have to mention him.
Tony Iommi: Mr Riffmeister himself. Can't think of any guitarist that has written so many cool riffs, and I don't think his solos gets the appreciation they deserve. Maybe not the fastest player you can find, but every note counts, and is played with true feeling.
Mark Knopfler: I don't know where to start. Great tone, great feeling, good songwriter, expert on minimalism - in a part where some other guitarist would play 52 notes, he only plays two and lets the backing guitar do the work. So cool!
Randy Rhoads: Don't know if he actually counts as a neoclassical guitarist (I've seen people do it - I'm not sure I agree), but if he does, he's the only one I really appreciate. Yngwie & Co are skilled, true, but I find their playing a bit boring.
And more...

Agreed... even sometimes a few that I've not heard of... makes me go out and listen more!
I realise I keep harping on about Roine Stolt without backing up my comments... so give this a listen: Garden Of Dreams (part 3) - the guitar solo kicks in around 03:00 and it's just moving. Not a shredfest, but just so mellow and groovy. I love this song (the whole song comes in at 59 minutes 26 seconds, and is a permanent fixture on my MP3 player). This version is live from one of their DVDs.
