Post Mesa Dual Rec
Hey guys first of all I'm pretty new to this site...

but i was wondering if any of you guys have played a Mesa Dual Rectifier. There isn't a store around me that deals with Mesa/Boogie, but if you guys own/have played one please let me know what you think. I've been thinking of getting either that, or a Hughes and Kettner Triamp. Thanks!

oooo... H&K all the way. i love those amps... i'm a little biased but still, i would buy one of those if i could

i have played the mesa... didn't mess around with it to much but i def played around with the gain structure of the thing and it moves let me tell you that. even though you haven't played one around your area, i would suggest finding someone who either has one or make a trip to go play one. don't buy one blind... that's the worst thing you can do

i've got the mesa single rectifier and its just awesome! i love it! i tried the dual rec and found it a bit sharper than the single, but either way its an amazing amp. you can get almost any tone you want out of it, well i could! as for H &K ive not tried the triamp, but even the small 'budget' amps they do are bloody good! i'd try both though out personally. its really down to personal preference. depends what tone you're after.

Yeah, obviously rock/metal. I know all the bands I listen to sound great with them on CD's, but obviously it will sound different up close or live...

Nocojack recorded the first song on his myspace with a mesa tri rec, so you can imagine it sounding similar

I play through an older Mesa dual rec (with 2 channels). Dude... Honestly, I can't play anything else now. The tone you can so easily dial in on a dual rec, simply can't be beat. (That goes for all of mesa's rectifier series)

I will be trading up to a Mesa Road King!!!!!!
It's got 4 channels, and you can actually pick which tubes you use per channel. And the Road King Cab has 2 celestion vintage 30's, and 2 C90's!!!

Check it yo!!!

The only difference between the Single, Dual, and Triple Recs, are generally just the wattage. 50, 100, or 150. You don't use 100 watts. With the volume knob, the saying a little goes a long way really works with the volume on the Recs. Besides in a live situation, you're generally mic'd. Recording, you're mic'd. So it's a little much with the wattage. Rectifiers are LOUD!!! Don't let the knock offs fool you. Go play a knock off, then go play the real thing. You'll see a difference.

Have fun shopping!
