Looking for a new QUALITY AMP! Help me out!
Let me start with a brief summary of my musical taste. I like the ACDC sound, I like the Pantera sound, I like the Stevie Ray sound. Man... there are lots of sounds I like. I have been playing guitar for over 10 years. It seems everywhere I turn there is a new gadget or amp that promises these things. Some work, some don't. I need something totally gig'able and portable. *something with a handle on it* LOUD if necessary, and just plain silky smooth on clean. Right now I am not playing any gigs... in fact I am gearing up for next year because I am going to be attending GIT in Hollywood at Musicians institute.
My question may be a little redundant but I am looking for that perfect middle ground. I am prepared to spend 1k if necessary to get what I want.
As of late I have been heavily involved in the new VOX amps out now. What are some of your opinions about vox. So far I have come up with the Valvetronix VTX series amps. I know the Also the AC15 and 30 give more of a classic tone than the VTX series but... DAMN! Where is the perfect middle ground at! I cant afford to buy 12 amps to cover all the sound arrangements. Also, has anyone had any experience with a boutique head called the "Vanous Evolution"?? I hear its pretty neat for a head unit. Anwyay, enough with the babbling. Any input would be extremely helpful. I wont go into detail about what I curently have Im jsut interested in what the community hs to say. And YES I AM A NOOB poster. But I like this site so far! Loving the community!

 Guitar Amps.
Look at other posts where the headlines read ''Need New Guitar Amp'' Or ''Anything with amps'' those have a lot of replies with good ideas and some where people explain some of the amps.
Haha Musicians Institute! I was gonna go there, i still want to just dont have the money.Did you take the campus tour?? Where they show you the jam rooms, the library where you can check out guitars n cables and all that sorta fun stuff! and the stage where your gonna have to perform in front of people. 500 people fit in there but dayum everyone watching from the audience to people walking by!! you gonna get that ROCK STAR FEELING!
But anyhow I dunno every amp promises this n that sound and WELL MOST tell you, you can be and play sounding like your favorite artists no matter what when you buy their amps, or effects and well its pretty much not true! Like i saw this digitech pedal i think it was its all Chrome/silver and shiny and i looked at it, it says THE PEDALL THAT GAVE AC/DC THE UNIQUE SOUND THEY HAVE'' .... i started lauphing when i saw that... for 99$ i was like yeah right, imma buy that and become ACDC in a matter of seconds! haha but anyhow about your amp, Take your guitar to guitar center like you said, try out different amps! Try some Marshalls, Some MESAS, and anything else they have in there to offer! (They have Heads that are really good but usually have them put away or kinda where people cant see them,. i noticed that!) Like ask to try out the Peavey EVH (eddie van halen) 5150 .... its pretty cool but it cost like 2k + tax..... ouch.BUT IF YOU WANT A GIG WORTHY HEAD TO PLAY, and that is gonna last you a long ass time IF YOU TAKE GOOD CARE OF IT.... id suggest looking into marshalls, mesas, Hughes and Kettner (since you say you wanna a good CLEAN tone Hughes and Kettner,Duotone or Triamp mk2) try those out but i warn you theyre like 2400 - 3600 for the tube amps. Too much for my money range but if i had more money i woulda gone with a duotone, I ll probably still get one in the future!! When i have a better job and have more money.
BUT ANYWAYS just do that and go to guitar center, or any local music store and fuck with all the amps and heads and all kinds of shit and go back, every day, or whenever u can and play them again n again and well WHEN YOU FIND THE SOUND YOU LIKE/ WANT .... (you can even take pedals, cables that are yours to try out your stuff on any amp!) Just make sure you show the guy at the entrance your pedals and all that, so he can mark down you brought them and they dont think ur stealing them! but when you find that sweet sound you want, MAKE YOUR BUY!

Seriously look on guitar center for their used gear... some of it it priced very nicely and is in great shape... Other than that try out the peavy supreme... I love that amp.

As for MI. No I havnt taken the tour just yet but I plan on it very soon. Im calling the guy back to possibly set a date for that. Im literally quitting my job, cashing out my retirement account and going to S california to experience this. And live my dream!
Thanks again for your help and anymore input is always welcome.

the Windsor is like Penta's younger and underachieving brother.

WOW....the Penta is THAT much better than the Windsor ?
i thought the Windsor was a pretty good amp.....if the Penta IS that much better, it is a kick butt amp indeed !
i wanted to try one last monday, but the music store was WAY to crowded with little kids and women.
i will be in Westminster (Coffey Music has one) after Christmas , and i will give the Penta a tryout then.
after the build up you gave it ....i am ready to be impressed !
should i take my AirBrake attenuator with me ?

well I can't turn it beyond a 3 (even though the knobs go to 11... yes 11 ala Spinal Tap) without creating a noise disturbance.
Air Brake might be a good choice.
