I'm a little confused by this post.
Was it supposed to be in response to something else?
At any rate, I've bought a number of guitars without playing them first. If the seller has a good return policy it's not a problem.

the MIJ Squires are very nice guitars....i think the new Squires are not quite the same breed of guitar.

You can luck out with some regular Squires as well. Mine was a 2002 20 year anniversary special edition bullcrap something or other, and the neck on it was surprisingly nice. A lot of companies have hit or miss models like that though.

true...i think the japanese are way better at quality control and take more pride in ther production. they made squires better 25 yrs ago. now there is no love i think.

ibanez is one of the few brands were i think you actualy get your moneys worth when you hit that $700 or more range. and if you by a $200-$300 guitar. well thats what you get. There is a definate begginer and pro level with them. Unlike many hit or miss brands. or over glorified brands like esp(ooops, sorry, did i sat that out loud.) I still love fender, but the american ones are so much. and for a guy like me who plays with humbuckers, they dont make it easy. I gues thats why i like that old squire so much, a 22 fret fender neck(no so common), double humbuckers and no pick guard. and its blood red. sick.

Actually, I think that's changing. The lower-level Squiers like Affinity models will still be hit or miss, and I had a MIK Squier Strat from the late 80's or so that was pretty crappy, but some of the newer Squiers are quite playable, though you may have to try a few to get a good one. A ton of people love those Squier 52's, for example, though all 3 that were in my local shop had bad fret-ends.
A bandmate of mine has one of the Squier Tele Custom II's (the 2 P-90 Tele) and loves it. In fact, at one point he had two, one black and one blonde. He's no newbie either, he's owned lots of nice Gibbies, Rics, etc.
So, although there was a downturn after the MIJ Squiers (I used to own a MIJ Squier Tele, and still do own a MIJ Squier P-bass), I think that many of the Squiers produced from the mid-90's to present are neat little guitars.
