The difference is in the number of simulations. Higher model = more simulations.

It's made of aghatis... They're good in blues, rock and similar stuff but piezo souns awful in metal... Palmmuting is horrible...
My friend moved Variax's electronics to Fernder Strato MIM with SD Hot Rails. He has classic Strat with some extra functions from Variax . IMO it's really good option

I think that moving electronics from Variax can be good idea but I would put them into mahogany or basswood guitar... Aghatis is rather 'soft' wood with a lot of low frequency so new body has to have similar charackter.

Oh GOSH...
IMO he chosed place for new electronics badly... Stratocaster has a lot of place behind bridge... What is with buzz?? IMO pickups must produce its a lot... Ther is too many electronics under them...

They very cool, but I can't really figure out their purpose except as a novelty.
In the studio, you would want a real banjo, or a real sitar, or whatever you are simulating because as good as it sounds, it aint the real thing.
On stage it would be really weird to be playing a thing that looks like an acoustic guitar and hearing a banjo. People would stop listening and start looking for the banjo.
If you really really need a very wide variety of stringed instuments it may be slightly more cost effective, but probably not very much more cost effective than just buying one of each.
I am of course, proud of line 6 for their constant comitment to quality and innovative sound products.
