 Kasuga Guitar?
So I played a Fernandez and Ibanez a few years ago and want to get back into playing. My friend has a guitar that his father gave him and wants to sale it to me. Its a Kasuga Telecaster copy... I've never heard of it and haven't ever seen one. I researched it a bit and found out that Kasuga is a Japanese brand from the 70's and such. I could only find one review when I googled it and the review was good. Has anyone heard of this type of guitar... had experience... and would you pay 80 bux for one? Thanks

I probably would not buy it. Most copy guitars are not worth more than 30$

well I'm looking it up and all I can find is that it is a Japan company from the 70's and 80's and it went bankrupt. There are a few people online who have Kasuga guitars and like them, but can't find out how much they are worth. A few people said they think they are worth something like in the hundreds... and the copies are of fender. I want a cheap guitar just to play on a few times a month... and 80 bux is pretty cheap, but I could get a new guitar for that price (a cheap on at that). I think this one my be worth gettin due to the fact it may be worth something one day.
Its just too bad that I can't find that much about them. Ebay doesn't even have them... only ads for them. It looks to me that they are very rare which intrigues me and the guy selling it says that after 30 years it still sounds great.

Im guessing thats $80 US? im from Australia
To completely contradict the previous response i think copies can be equally as good as the real in some instances and even if it is a copy, that doesn't mean you are buying it because you want a guitar that sounds exactly like what the maker has copied. I have played numerous copies out of Korea, japan etc and ill admit many of them were not very high standard but they certainly are very different.
If i were you i would buy it, a new guitar for $80 would be of about the same quality but you'd have something different.

for $80 it's probably worth the risk... if you have a chance to play it before you buy it... definitely do that.
Check the action (height of strings off of neck--not too high but not sitting on frets directly), straightness of neck, frets pulling off neck, noise on switches and knobs, and pops when you play.

this looks more like it would be an investment guitar than actually worth playing on. if you feel up to buying something storing it around and reselling it you might make some money, but really you only do this kind of thing normally if you are already extremely familiar with the guitar, and you are willing to deal with the hassle of reselling.

Cheap copies have gotten pretty good in recent years. I don't know anything about the guitar, but 80 bucks is nothin. I'd go for it. You can probably at least resell it for at least that.

If it's about 30 years old, just get some new strings and I bet it would sound great! And, even if it's not a great guitar, you can just add it to your collection. I bet not many guitarists can say they have a Kasuga in their collection.
