 I Need Help Choosing
I just got back from the guitar store and I think its time for a new guitar. Theses are the guitars I liked Hammer Sunburst (SATFP90), ibanez S620EXQM. What one is better or do they both suck?

the question is which one do YOU like the most ?
its all about what works for you.

The brands you listed, epi, hammer and ibanez are all decent guitars in your price range. It all comes down to which one you like. Which one "feels" good to you.

all of these brands ...Ibanez ,Jackson , Hamer ,Epiphone/Gibson, ESP/LTD, and others all offer entry level guitars, and high end professional grade guitars.
stay away from the beginner guitars ....the higher end you buy the better.
check out the Epiphone Iommi SG ....its an awesome value....and in your price range.
buying a used guitar is a good way to get a BETTER instrument for the price of a crappy one

in that price range, if you're willing to really look, you could find a used Gibson, or any or the other higher-end brands you might be looking for, there's a couple of things you can go bargain on, store brand cereal for instance, guitars are something you want to buy the brand.
the model guitar in my avatar (Gibson Sonex 180) is a killer guitar i paid $250 for some years back, everything in it is original, except for the paint, and i've never played anything like it for that price. i look at prices for them from time to time, and they are still selling for between the $400 to $600 range, i'll probably be buying another one, if the store in my area that has one ever gets done putting it together for me, and calls me to let me know i can pick it up.
anyway, Daddies Junkie Music is a chain store in my area that stocks a lot of really great used gear, i don't know if there's one anywhere near you, but i suggest you hit every store in your area until you find what it is you really want, a guitar is something you just don't want to settle on.

Like chuck said its all personal preference. Do you want to buy a Super Strat style guitar or do you prefer a Les Paul style or even some kind of a V or an Explorer? If you like the Les Paul style I do have one suggestion that I saw last night and made my Jaw Drop. ESP makes an LTD EC-500, which features EMG 81/60 combo, a Mahogany body, Rosewood Fretboard, Grover tuners, Flag Inlays on odd numbered frets, and an Earvana Compensated nut all of which are extremely nice features. On zZounds the guitar in black is $630, and at Sam Ash they had it for $499. In my opinion thats a deal that cant be beaten, if it weren't for my EC-1000 I would be purchasing one myself.
Here is what the guitar looks like.

Hamer makes some mighty fine guitars , and some lower level ones as well.
same goes for Epiphone....it just depends on the model .

 Gibson
Im looking at the Gibson Melody Maker Dual Pickup rate now it says its on sale for 379$ and it says the list price is 639$ would that be better than the Hamer Sunburst wich is 479$ list price 689$ so the hamer is 100$ more than the Gibson so would the hamer be better since its 100$ more? Or is the Gibson better just because its a Gibson?
