considering my guitar is all black with that stealth finish. it gets dusty often and I get too lazy to clean it. So i guess a black guitar is more work =\ so i only clean it when i change strings

Frets don't need to be cleaned very often. Basically, when you change the strings, you should (if you have an ebony or Rosewood fretboard, oil the fretboard (lemon oil but not edible lemon oil) and take a pick or credit card and scrape any of the gunk built up against the frets themselves. If your frets are rusting, you might need to take it in to have them dressed (basically leveled and polished) but otherwise, wipe em down, keep the gunk to a minimum and keep that fretboard oiled now and then. If it's maple though, do not oil the fretboard!

I try to clean my guitar once a week. I clean fretboard every time I change strings(once a moth?? ). Black guitars are hard to keep them clean...

I clean the guitar whenever I see it is dirty. I also clean frets with a cotton cloth after every playing.

I clean my guitar only when it makes me sick to look at it. It happens about once a week. I take a piece of dry cloth and clean it. But I spend only about a minute at it heh. Haven't I said somewhere I'm lazy?

 When To Clean
When I say what I'm about to say, I am speaking for myself. I'm no guitar genius but I got this from some players I really respect. I keep the entire guitar clean. I clean it after and before shows. As for the fret board, I like the way the oil from my fingers mellows the rosewood fretboard. If there is too much build up of crap on the fretboard I'll scrape it off with a soft plastic scraper I made. I use a product called brillianize that won't hurt the finish. I use a micro fiber cloth for pulling up finger prints etc. Of course some days my beloved Gretsch ProJet sits covered with sweat and beer.
