From the looks of it he is doing HM's with his left hand while making fast rhythmical tremolos with the bridge.

Nice effect. I'm not experienced in using tremolo so I cannot tell what he really does. But I like it! Very Happy

I've seen Jeff Beck utilize that same technique years ago (and then Brad Gillis of Night Ranger fame popularized the technique once again in a radio friendly song in the 80s). Interesting and curious thing though - both (by 'both,' I mean Jeff Beck and the fellow in the vid...) are using Fender Strats - they must be set up with some kind of floating bridges cuz the strats I've had, the bridges were fixed mounted, I was never able to do that (my tremolo systems were stable or flush-mounted, i think it's called, so i wasn't able to achieve that warbling effect by hammering the floating bridge or its tremolo arm)

Yes that technique involves tapping the bar. That is commonly done on a Floyd Rose, but this Fender strat appears to be outfitted with a "Fulcrum Tremolo" that is of course a two screw installation as opposed to the standard six screw installation classic strat tremolo bridge. I'm curious as to how he manages to keep it in tune without a locking nut.

that's a pretty simple technique using a wammy bar. the sounds created by tapping the bar real quick as you play. he does it pretty well.
