 GuitarPro
Does anyone use this program? I got the demo, so its missing a few bits, im wondering does anyone have the full version and Is it worth getting?
Its quite easy to use, but the demo is missing the playback feature. And it dies after 14 days.
Does anyone know how accurate this is for tabbing things?

Anyone gonna reply?? Oh well..
If anyone has it, where do you get midi files from?
Ive tried converting mp3s to MIDIs but, when i import the MIDI into GuitarPro no tracks are listed so is it kind of impossible???
Very frustrating...and useless unless you like MIDI audio quality stuff....Lol, brings back memories of old DOS games...cant wait to tab out the Doom 1 & 2 music...
If anyone requests it, ill be happy to post the tabs for Doom

hey i own the guitar pro 4 demo and what is interesting about this is that it is a total glitch.
i never have to pay for it.
i have owned it for over 3 yrs now.
and this thing is awesome for learning songs.
although i know the sound quality is shit. its a keeper.
on the other hand i dont know much about midi, but you probably need some kind of interface.
i didnt help much but i thought i would let you know.

Lucky yours is glitched, but the demo doesnt have RSE sound, just crappy midi sounds. I got the full version from 'somewhere' and it sounds a bit better with the RSE...Its only good for timing IMO, cause the tabs that go with it are normally wrong or bizarre, not to mention its easier to find a guitar tab than it is a midi file. But yea, its good for complex songs with heaps of layers cause you can mute different layers to just get the lead guitar, and definitely good to work on your timing.

Ok, apparently you fine folk need a lesson in what a midi file is. You can do that on Google, but to help you, what I will do is tell you what a midi file isn't. It isn't an audio file. So please stop trying to get a "good sound" from a midi file. Now if you have an audio interface (for example, a synthesizer), you can get it to read a midi file and the SYNTH will play good audio from that midi file. Mk? mk.

hmm, i think they get that... although midi is a complex and very misunderstood thing. it can also be used for more than just music as well. many lighting people use it as well to sync their lights with the music

Huh? This is why I thought they didn't know what MIDI was. Maybe I'm the one who needs an education?

There are programs that can supposedly do this conversion, but all I can download are demos which dont work

Exactly...what I am trying to say here is that midi data is nothing more than chunks of 0-127 number groupings. It is not audio. Unless there is some software out there that can "listen" to an mp3, accurately pitch detect, and then transcribe that to midi notes....we ain't there yet, Buck Rodgers!

We are so there, its easily a step down from voice recognition.
http://www.digital-ear.com/digital-ear/wav-to-midi.asp
But im not 100% sure it works to be honest, I downloaded it and it had a virus, so dont download it eh...or atleast scan it before you install it
