I've always heard you can play a guitar through a bass amp and it's Ok. but it's not Ok to play a bass through a guitar amp because it'll blow out. is that true? can you play a guitar through a bass amp, at a high(high meaning with a bassist and drummer) volume without it doing any damage? any info would be greatly appreciated

yup, your right on there,
a bass cab is made to deal with a full range of frequencies along with a great big load of lows, a firend of mine uses a trace cab to play his guitar through, sounds good to me.

but a guitar amp is not made to deal with lots of these low frequencies, there just not made for it.
you can put bass though !quietly!

one thing you should do when playing bass through a guitar amp is turn the lows pretty much ALL the way down on the guitar. you should also turn the bass down on your guitar if you have the control for it. i run my bass through my little marshall 10 watt and it sounds fine

for my first couple years of rocking the electric, I played my guitar through a bass amp. It worked great! I enjoyed the relatively unique sound and the ability to get a lot of low-end sound.

of course keep in mind that "golden, well defined tone" is from your mids and trebles, not the bass. Pursue this experiment with fear and trembling!

yeah. you don't want to have a lot of bass in your signal... that takes the job from us bassists as well
