I bought d'adario strings (.009-42)... are these strings sufficient for a stratocaster? or will it cause a bow or somethin

Those will be just fine. I use D'Addario XL's on many of my guitars including my Strat.

I'm not a big fan of the prosteels. They grip to my fingers, and feel mucky and un-natural.

There's a company called cleartones that are making strings that are "better" quality than elixir. I'm not sure how true that is, but they do sound pretty good.

what did you think of the Cleartones ?

the acoustic strings were dull sounding compared to Elixirs.
but so were the Alchemy's ......i just assume that Elixir and Ovation are a great combination.
