 Guitar maintenance issues
Ok, i am having a few issues with my guitar at the moment.
1. I think the intonation (think thats how you spell it) is going. My g string always seems to go out very easily, as soon as i start to shred or even just bend it goes out. And it anoys the shit out of me because as soon as i start to use octaves the out of tuness stands out like dogs balls. how can i fix this?
2. The screws that screw in my pick ups are beinning to rust pretty bad, not all on them. I assume this is due to the acidity in my sweat. I ensure i wipe down my guitar after everytime i play it, but i still find the screws are rusting....even though if im not playing my guitar its in my hard case.
i think thats it for now. If any one could please help me out it would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
az

Dude go to your local guitar store and ask to get it set up,
It should cost about ($20 and up) depending on the problem.

intonation issues shouldnt cause your string to "go" out of tune.
intonation is simply a scale length adjustment.
strike a 12th fret harmonic. it should be the exact same pitch as the string fretted at the 12th fret.
if i made a guess, i would say that you have a binding issue, or a tuner problem.
check the nut, and bridge saddle for a burr of some sort.
if you find a burr, gently file it smooth. a drop of graphite will help stop the binding.
if you have a locking nut, check the pad that clamps the string.
also check the tuning machine for slipping.
one of these things SHOULD be your problem.
good luck, and have a super day

If the nut on your guitar may need to be re-cut or replaced as well.
Getting your guitar to stay in tune is every guitar players holy Grail!
As for the rusty screws, try replacing them with Brass or Stainless Steel.

Well the most obvious starting point would be,how old are your strings? could be past their lifespan. Is it out of tune at all times or only at certain frets? if it's the latter it may very well be an intonation problem,And as the guy up top said could be your nut,What does your axe have? Bone? graphite? etc. Also could be a burr on your bridge saddle which would lead to the next question which would be what type of bridge do you? Standard,Floyd rose,Stopbar? it could be any one of a plethora of things,I'd say first things first start with a string change and then work your way down the list.BTW what strings do you use? if it's GHS theres your prob right there :p

ah alright.
na i change my strings regularly. I only just changed them two days ago and i am still having the same problem. I am using ernie ball not even slinky's because i tune down to CGCFAD. Ill have a look at the nut and bridge tonight. Not sure exactly what specific type of bridge and nut i have. its an ESP Deluxe model (les paul looking thing, with emg's)
thanks for all the help guys.
cheers,
az

All those low frequencies need a physically longer scale length to reach their full potential.
If you ever get the chance, check out a Danelectro Baritone. Or anybodys baritone at that. You will notice a huge difference.
Aside from that, I recomend a custom set of strings for those frequencies.
My son used to do a Robert Fripp tunig of C G D A E G. John Pierce strings helped him make a custom set. Heavy as hell on the low end and very light on top.
