Post Gig Amp for metal
hey guys I'am looking for a real badass metal amp with lots of distortion a meat, my budget is a little tight I can give about 500-600 euro for the amp. It doesn't metter if it's tube or not I just need it to be loud so I can play small and medium size gigs, it can be a head too

If you want an amp with a lot of balls, loud as all hell, and has a great overall sound, I would say anything along the lines of Peavey. I have a Peavey XXX tube head running through a Marshall 1960 cabinet with Vintage Celestion 30's in it and it sounds killer. I've also played on Peavey's XXX combo amp which is also tube. It's a 2x12 amp, so it'll be plenty loud. And it sounds just as ballsy as my half-stack. I would definitely say go with Peavey. Good luck on your searching.

Again I have to say Slay is right. Peavey XXX is a true metal amp. Peavey Triple XXX Head 120W is what you're looking for. I'm not sure you can get it for 600 euro. But it's worth amp to save for!

Peavey 5150 is very good but very very expensive Razz . Peavey XXX is very good amp Smile . Do you need only head or combo?? Peavey has also few more good amps Smile . Peavey VK is really good and has a lot of gain Smile . I think you can try also Marshal JCM900 but not everyone likes it Smile

It can be a head or a combo, but I would prefere a head. As for marshall jcm 900, I've got the jcm 2000 but it's not what I'am looking for, I need an amp to play really heavy stuff and as for peavey triple XXX in know it, but can't afford it :/. That's why I ask if some one knows any cheap but still decent amp with real heavy distortion.

Have you ever listened to Vader?? They use those amps. IMO they're very good Smile . If your future amp can be solid state, I can porpose Randalls from G3 series. Valve poweramp and solidstate preamp works good in really heavy stuff Smile

go for the Rocktron Prophesy if you can get ahold of one. its a rack mount preamp. it needs a poweramp to get it goin but its got some wicked distortion and effects. the foot board for it is only like $150. peace.

Try a Randall RG 100 ES. Its kinda hard to find . But you can allways go with a Randall V2 or a Randall T2.

Try buying a cheap amp (laney for example) with a good and loud clean channal and add some good distortion pedal. It will be sufficent for a medium size gigs and will cost less then a combo with good built-in distortion.

It's not a good idea... Often, dirty channel needs other eq setting than clean... Moreover, there's nothing better than good distortion from amp Smile
