 from 9's to 10's
I was wondering if i stuck 10's on my guitar instead of 9's that i have on now then would i have to mess with the nut? i can adjust the truss rod on my own but i was wondering if from 9's to 10's if i need to file the nut. I don't know what string gauge came stock but i quickly replaced them with 9's on accident instead of 10's like i like. Anyway thanks for listening to my problems again.

Nah, it should be fine. I don't know what kind of bridge you have though, and sometimes adjustments are needed if you have an Edge bridge or a Floyd Rose.

the nut should be fine ....you will need to give the guitar a set up .

Ok, Now I have a question.
I use low gauge strings.
.56's or .60's (when they're in stock) AND I tune down to drop-C#.
But I've never adjusted shit on my guitars. Am I fkng up, here?

Nope. I imagine your guitar was probably already setup good enough for those strings.

Technically you should go and have the intonation checked.

well, i've done that myself. also, I lowered the action. I meant to asked specifically about the truss rod. my brain knew what I meant to say. My fingers just didn't finish the thought for me.

Well, if the neck's straight or only has the slightest bow, then you're golden.

My guitars all came set up for 9s... but I use the John Petrucci approach, 9s for standard tuning, 10s for dropping to D, and 11s if I go any lower. Gives a nice even feel across the different guitars.

I must admit that is a really nice way of setup.
