Post Frets, Neck Length and Wood
This is a good question. For my fretboard, I prefer rosewood. I like the rosewood because the more I play it the more it changes due to the natural oils in your fingers. The length of the fretboard on my two primary guitars is completely different. My Gretsch solid body has a really long fretboard and my Epiphone ES-175 has a short fretboard. I sue them for different styles so they work well for me. I also prefer my frets not filed for a little extra twang.

i prefer ebony fretboards, but rosewood is fine.
i like jumbo frets , and 24 of them (22 is ok).
i am into neck thru guitars...it has to be an incredible bolt on to get my attention.

All mine are rosewood. I like to (want to) have a lot of different guitars around for whatever tickles my fancy at the moment. Sometimes I like a fat neck, sometimes a shred neck, sometimes right in the middle. Bottom like...you can never have too many guitars so get every type/style and variation that you can.

i have unusual fretboard, because my one is from mahogany Smile i have 22 frets and i am really satisfied with it (even though sometimes i feel lack of these two frets).

my ideal has always been the same thing: mohogany wood, rosewood fretboard, and Gibson's shorter fret-scale. (24 3/4?)

almost every guitar i've bought has fit that discription.

i also prefer a fixed bridge, and a fat kneck.

I like what you said about not having to many guitars!!!!!!!!!! I have several myself and am working on getting more. Each guitar has it's own sound and personality. Each can be used for different sounds and styles. ROCK ON!!!!! Cool

So true! It is nice to have a variety of guitars in the ol' collection.
My faves are Gibsons. I have short stubby fingers and the shorter scale length gives me hope. :)

I don't care for Maple fretboards, but I get over it. In general I like Rosewood. I like Ebony too, but it seems like anything with Ebony comes with huge-ass inlays that get in the way.
Life can be soooooo cruel.

My Strat and Ibanez 565 both have maple necks and fret boards. They have more of a bright sound. They are just clear coated because I like the feel of the wood. My 7-string has a natural feel to it as well. It's either clear coat or tunge oil. I prefer a flat shred style neck. I replaced the neck on my Strat which was a 50's style v shape with a rounded fret board radius with a Warmoth c shape neck. The Dean has a V shape neck that flattens out some. It's chromed to match the rest of the guitar.
I prefer larger frets, cause you can really dig into the neck that way. I tend to press kinda hard though. My ESP MII that got stolen had an ebony fret board, and I liked that alot. Would like to get another guitar with an ebony board. It's kind of inbetween a maple and a rosewood. Rosewood fret boards add warmth if you are looking for a warmer tone. The Dean-V is a rosewood so is the fret board on the 7.
The 565 has EMG's, a single coil in the front that gets some nice bright Strat tones. I'm in the process of getting it to an mp3 file so I can put it on my MySpace page. Then you all will be able to hear it for yourselfs. ROCK ON!!!! Cool
