 Found Treasure!
Hey i recently found an old fender acoustic in my closest. It belonged to my grandfather even though he didn't play. Anyway is there anything about the acoustic that i should know/do. It doesn't have a truss rod and i don't really know much about acoustic guitars. My friend tells me the guitar is twice the width of his acoustic guitar though so I'm guessing its a bigger body? i don't know.

Get a humidifier if you don't already have one.

Do you know what model it is? Is there a number inside the sound-hole or on the headstock anywhere? Great find!
It's probably a jumbo shape.

yes indeed ...proper humidity is a major issue with acoustics.

that is quite common on old guitars.

GOOD CALL !
i didnt think of that little fact.
you would think any steel string guitar made in the last 40 -50 years would have a truss rod ...i know some didnt , but you would think they would .

yea , you should get some sort of humidity control ....and keep the guitar in the case when you are not playing it.
and yes ...the truss rod nut is usually inside the body on most acoustics.

Definately get a humidifier. I had aquired a really old acoustic that didn't have a truss rod and didn't keep an eye on it for a while and the damn neck got all fucked up. It is possible to adjust them, but it's a pain in the ass because you have to do it by hand and it takes a lot of time (as in weeks). It's even a pain in the ass when you have a pro do it because it costs $$$.
