 Epiphone lp standards
I'm just wondering if Epiphone les paul standards are good guitars for their money, they seem to have great tone and a better finish, but is there a guitar like the lp standard that is just as good, but cheaper? or are they worth it?

I recently got a epiphone lp standard in Cherry Sunburst (gorgeous) for Christmas and it plays extremely well. I went to the store and compared all other guitars in that pricerange but they just didnt have the right tone for the rock/blues style i play. Hopefully that helps if you have any more questions about it feel free to ask.

I enjoy it, mine has a nice clean sound when you record it. Plays very well for the price.

Epiphones are nice guitars that wont empty your bank account....
add the pickups / electronics of your choice, and you have a VERY nice guitar...
whats not to like ?
when i look in my wallet, the Epiphones look better and better all the time.
i still hear that Iommi SG calling my name

Yep they are very good for what you pay. Its one of the few ways to get a real Les Paul without breaking the $700 barrier. I've had the plain top Cherryburst Standard for about a year now, and its one of the few guitars I play alot out of the 15 guitars in my collection. The only thing I changed on it was the bridge pickup because it seemed a little weak to me and dull sounding at the time bought the guitar. So I replaced the bridge pickup with a Seymour Duncan Screamin' Demon for more treble without losing its real tone. The Epi Les Paul Standard is a great guitar if you want a budget Les Paul. I might actually look into getting a Les Paul Custom from Epiphone in the near future seeing how the standard is so nice.

I really had no idea how many companies there were doing knockoffs. You learn something everyday.

Well, it's strat and LP and Gibson hollowbody style guitars called SX's, and Agile's and whatnot... knockoffs. They do change the names however, so whatever that qualifies as.

I have yet to get my hands on one myself, but from what I've heard the Agile LP's blow Epi LP's away. You can get one of the Agiles that's constructed better and finished with multiply binding abalone inlays etc for less than an Epi. Same as someone else said, swap out the pickups and possibly the pots and you have a flat out great guitar for chump change. They've been pretty popular guitars for people that like to mod shit for a while now and the company even offers them with better electronics (Duncans and EMG's) now.

Yes copies. That's insane. The most expensive guitar I saw were 90 bucks. I guess if you were interested enough, you wouldn't have to worry about losing a wad of cash.
