I'd take the Jackson... not a matter of what is better. I just like it more. It is what it is. The Epi is a Les Paul wannabe. A damn good wannabe, but still.

Have you went and played them at a store yet . you should to make sure you would like them. Well I don't know if you can play the epiphone yet...lol its the new ones. but sounds like a sound guitar

either way i would recommend that you buy the whole guitar at one time. From experiance i bought one of my guitars at guitarcenter and when i went in to pay the last payment (or so i thought) they added another 283$ fee. After around 2 hours of talking with their people I finally got the charges reversed. I don't know if that will happen again but from now on i only buy my stuff all at once if i can or else i just wait.

i would get the Epiphone .....it is loaded with too many awesome features to pass up.
the pickups are Gibson Dirty Fingers.....they are legendary.
the Jackson isnt quite as "loaded".....thats just my personal opinion.
play both , and buy the one that feels the best to you.
both are nice guitars.....they are just different.
i think the 'phone is a better value .....but its all about what works for you

does the Jackson come with a hard case?
if not, the Kelly body is an odd shape and will be hard/expensive to find.

I think you should really try to play them both before buying them. Really. This shouldn't even be needed to ask, you just have to play them both and decide. The necks are entirely different, as will be their sounds. It's apples and oranges.

When I have moments of indecision between two pieces of equipment, I usually resolve the situation by getting BOTH.
Of course, I'm still paying for some of those decisions, for at least another 6 months!
