Post Critique
Hey, seeing as Ive found a way to share my most lovely music with the rest of the world, would you guys mind critiqueing it? I want an outsider opinion on what Im doing wrong.

(Ok, I didnt know what to call them, to avoid copyright issues perhaps Shocked
But the song Nutter is meant to be duke nukem theme by megadeth
And the later called Ickle is meant to be the halo 2 theme by steve vai.)

http://www.last.fm/music/Nutter/bags?autostart

Please, be as harsh as possible, im not light hearted and I need the feedback.
I know it sucks, timing is way off for one, and I couldnt connect my amp to the computer so my strat was running hardwired to the computer.
Ive only been learning for about 5 months, and the steve vai song I only learned last night...but its real fun to play Smile
Enjoy! (lol)

If you want honesty, I'll be honest...

I know you are really excited about playing guitar. That is a GOOD THING. Keep that enthusiasm! The cold hard fact is though, Nutter, that you have to pay your dues. What I mean by that is you need to practice, practice, practice, and then practice some more. Your recordings sound like a beginner playing guitar. But hey, that's exactly what you are right? So no big deal, you just need to WORK. KEEP GOING! KEEP THAT ENTHUSIASM! If you work hard, you'll be sounding killer in less time than you think.

not sure I can run it through an amp, i can record it with a mic, but the mic records at 64kbps and I cant upload it to that site. Maybe if i find a better mic.

Youre right, I love playing, and dont think I will ever not.

The worst thing is my timing right? I need to staart practising with a metronome, and perhaps learn the full song instead of reading from tab Smile
Ill see how I go if I listen to the song whilst I play, but I wont be suprised if I cant keep up with vai Razz

And hey, Id be happy to give you guys some feedback too, I bet you guys play great.

the more times you play something the smoother is gets.
repetition is the key.
i am not good at thinking and playing at the same time...i have to just feel my way , so the better i know something the easier i can let it flow.

Definitely! Start today if you can! Practice with a metronome! Start painfully slow. It may seem boring, but actually, at first, it is HARDER to cleanly and accurately play scales at slow tempos. The reason is that every note stands out more. This can really help your technique. Once you've got that tempo down, (I typically go by the rule of "play it 10 times with no mistakes"), then bump it up 4 bpm. Soon, you'll be playing 16th notes at 200+ bpm!

Of course, I need to take a dose of my own medicine. It's been a while since I could do that, as I have fallen out of practice, but hey, wife, kids, and paying bills before playing guitar has become my life! Smile Not complaining.
