 Classic or modern??
What kind of stuff do you prefer?? Classic constructions like old Gibsons, Fenders etc. or rather modern ones like Jackson, B.C. Rich, ESP??
I like to mix both of them... Some things are good and intersting in classics but a like to 'go with time'. That's why I have rather classic guitar with modern pickups and other stuff. I also play rather modern music

Nowadays it's impossible to choose only one way... I like classic stuff like Les Pauls, Stratocasters, Telecasters but modern style wins... My Jackson takes pattern from Stratocaster but Floyd Rose, humbucker, killswitch, no pickguard make that it's rather modern guitar. Take Les Pauls as a example - only few has a pickguard .

I prefer modern style. Mainly because I like new sound of rock-metal music. The "previous age" of guitar music isn't what I like to listen to.

They are both awesome!
You're comparing Great to Great.
They both offer so much, so in my rig I try to incorporate both.
But lets put it this way if I had a gun to my head and choose I would probably be dead before I could choose.

Of course vintage guitars and amps. It has amaizing sound:). New guitar, hmmm... For example you buy a fender mex. You are very happy:). But it's not the Fender, it's a shit with Fender sign. Original, the best guitars were made to early 90's. I don't say about Fender or Gibson about 2000$ (for example american production). If you buy guitar and pay 300$. Firstly you should change tuners. I think that save some money is better way, than buy a guitar like that.

I think alot of Mexican fenders are actually really good quality instruments.
US Fender has maybe better hardware and maybe higher quality wood and construction/quality control but a Mexican Fender is still a good instrument.
I own a Fender Cyclone MIM and its up there with some US Fenders Iv tried, easily as good if not better than the highway1 guitars Iv checked out (lower price range US models). Has US atomic Humbucker at bridge and Texas single coil at neck.
Japanese and Korean Fender also make cracking guitars.

I may be the outcast here, but I'm a big fan of Godin Freeway Classic guitars because you can do so much with them. I however love Gibson Les Pauls and vintage Fender Strats for lead guitars.
