Post can anyone help with advice on adding an LED to tonebender?
Hi i'm using a colorsound re-issue tonebender fuzz, and while it sounds great it's really annoying not having an LED to show when it's on and I would like to add one.

ok, so what kind of LED should I use, I notice they have different values for voltage, ma and other stuff I don't really understand Razz

and where do I put it?

I have basic soldering skills so i'm imagining this isn't a difficult job, or is it not as simple as 'just adding an led'

any thoughts and help would be appreciated, Thanks.

ma is milliampres. In the long run, it's not going matter too much, in that it's such a negligible draw that you'r not going to notice. The only other thing that matters is the voltage accross that. For example, if you take a regular old LED and land it across a 9v battery, it'll blow after a second or two, and then smell bad. If you are buyin from small bear ,or a similar place that sells electronics for guitar effects, you'll have the right type to start with. Then you'll need a resistor to step down the current. The last thing you'll need is a new footswitch. Most footswitches are double throw, you work it once for on, and again for off. They also need to have their own set of contacts for each circuit they are operating. For an LED to work it needs it's own circuit, since a standard footswitch is DPDT (double pole, double throw, or two circuits) you will need a 3PDT (three pole, double throw). That will give you the extra loop for the LED circuit. It sounds like alot, but it's really an easy fix.

your right that sounded really complicated!! LOL, but I guess not for someone who knows what they are doing, I think I'll ask around locally and see if anyone I know understands what you just said, but thanks for the advice... So for someone with a basic knowlegde of electronics it would be a pretty easy job you say?
