Sound wise neck thru contruction is always going to sound the best because it gives you more sustain. Set necks are pretty good about that as well. Bolt ons are good also because lets say realistically you might break the neck on your guitar on accident and if its bolt on you can always get a new neck and replace it. On a neck thru your guitar is done for if you break the neck

It depends on what kind of guitar do you mean . Strato won't sound like real Stratocaster with NTB construction... I like mahogany guitars and IMO they are the best with set neck construction. It suits well to these guitars

Set necks aren't all that better than bolt ons, if they're better at all. When you think about it, it doesn't make sense that they would be.

I like guitars with NTB construction but my Jackson is traditional bolt on guitar. It makes that it's hard to play on high frets... Probably in new guitar I'd have NTB or set in construction.

i prefer neck thru body , with set neck being 2nd.
some bolt on neck guitars are fine....but most just seem cheap to me.
all that really matters is what works for you....to each his own.

Neck-through is best for tone and sustain and stability
Set neck would be second
Bolt on is just the easy and cheap way to go

bingo ! .... i agree 100%
now , there are some incredible bolt neck guitars...but they were created to be more cost effective , not better than set neck construction .

Yeah if we are speaking STRICTLY about tone, then I'd say neck-through every time, but for ease-of-maintenance, bolt-on for sure. Plus, there are many fine electrics that just lend themselves to bolt-on necks. Can you imagine a neck-thru Strat or Tele? It just wouldn't be right to me.

i would think a neck thru strat or tele would be a good thing.
if we loose the single coils ,the ugly hunk o plastic on top, and the fender "tremolo" , add a humbucker or two ,a floyd or khaler vibrato , and a sweet wide flat fretboard..we end up with a ......Jackson Soloist !
sorry about that....
it just seemed a natural progression.
each model or type of guitar has their own charm and feel.
is one really better than another?
we all have our preferences.
i prefer a neck thru more for feel than anything else...to me they just feel smoother and more solid.
does that make sense ?
