Post Any Tips For Choosing A Good Guitar Teacher?
I am new to guitar (I have been playing piano and sax for years) but want to know if there are any good resources out there for finding a good guitar teacher. I am in the Boston area if anyone knows a person. If you search on google for this topic I did find one article that was apparently written by a guitar teacher, pretty solid but i am looking for Boston area teachers. If anyone knows a website or just some key tips let me know.

article i found- http://www.wiser-rocker.com/blog/2007/03/31/setlists-arranging-your-songs-for-maximum-impact/

Sadly I can not help much with your search for a teacher, but I can definitely say that the post above is spam.

being a new student in guitar you need to find a teacher that will teach you in what you want to learn. Thats in any style you want to learn. Yes most will give you the boring ex. to help your finger get use to playing on the strings So don't worry about that. I would try and get a teacher that is going to teach you a little theory and how to use it be it examples in your genre of music or shows you. Along with if you want to learn a song you can bring in a CD and they will help you. a good teacher should be able to do it on the spot unless its tuned to like C then maybe it will be a little harder since you would have to tune that low and most lessons are done with standard tuning. With scales they will show you the scale and show you what chords and what not they can be played over. I'm sure there is a lot of good teachers in your area you just have to call up or go in and ask them questions. If you like what you hear try them out for a month and go from there or if by the first lesson you don't like them tell them you wont be back and go from there. Remember there isn't any bad Questions.

Most importantly get a teacher who can inspire you. Ask him to show off too, it looks real cool when you watch a pro and their fingers are flashing like crazy all over the place, and sounds cool too.
