Oh man... I feel for you.
I'm a woman, that has been pregnant, and as a guitarist, I couldn't forfeit any of my guitars due to financial reasons.
Honestly, I couldn't do it. It wasn't an option. My husband (Also a musician) asked, and I said no. I sold other stuff of ours. But not any of my guitars. (Well, we did sell a crappy one for about $100) It was good to get rid of some of our other junk to make room for the baby anyways.
Our son is 2 years old now, and I've never been more broke in my life for his first 2 years of life. But during those really hard times, we've always been able to make it through one way or another, and I had the comfort in playing my guitars when things were tough.
However... I sold my car to pay rent one month when my son was 10 months old and I took out a title loan on my other car the month prior to selling my other car. (We just paid it off last month!!! WORTH IT! Helped our credit too!)
We're finally doing ok now, and I'm glad I didn't sacrifice any of my guitars due to my pregnancy. We made it through ok, after having some really tough times. Like being on Food stamps, and going to the food bank for a little while, and some other struggles I don't care to discuss. My guitars really helped me get through those times. SERIOUSLY.
Anyways... Congratulations, Kids are alot of fun. Mine loves dancing when I play for him. And he wants to play too. He's getting a guitar for Christmas from Santa Mamma. lol I think he's going to end up being a drummer though.
In conclusion, we've been living comfortably for about 2 months now, still catching up on some of our bill paying, and watching what we spend our money on, but are able to enjoy life a little more and get the things we need, plus some things we want. 2 years is nothing.
Congratulations!! I hope you get some good money from selling your guitar regardless. It's hard to do. That's a really nice guitar. Good luck!
