Post MP3s and burnable CDs
I want to legally download some songs for me to learn. I learn better if I have an actual recording, and I'm not going to spend $15 on a CD for one song. All the songs I can download are in the MP3 format. This might sound stupid, but I can burn them to CDs right? As far as I know the only difference between Waveform files (the type usually on CDs) and MP3 files is the MP3 is smaller because it takes out the bits you can't hear.

well, that goes down to the format you want to burn. a cd-r can be burned two different ways. one, is with regular audio and can hold, usually, about 70-80 minutes of music depending on what brand cd you buy. or, you can burn in file format that is literally like taking the mp3 file and putting it on the cd. you can load those files into any computer from there as well which is why some people put documents and such on those cds as well. only thing with an mp3 disc is that only cd players with mp3 capabilities can play those. most modern and new players can play a burned disc. hope this helps

So I can download songs in two different file forms? In MP3 form I am able to put it on a CD-R, but then my player would need to have a MP3 capability. Don't think my players can do that. Where could I go where I can download songs in the normal CD file form without having to download any software? I only have access to public use computers, so I can download software.

well, when you download, most all music files on the internet are mp3. it's when you burn the actual disk does it convert them. whatever software you use to burn, you just have to check the preferences to see if it will burn mp3 or audio and change it from there. are you using windows media player?
