Well I've not been back to this thread for a while. I'm happy it seems to be the biggest guitar building thread, though my SG cut out has ended up a painted "Wednesday 13" themed piece in my room.
I've decided to finance this project. I'll put maybe $10 every week towards the guitar or any remaining money from that weeks allowance.
I've just been looking on GuitarAust and I don't know what body I wish to start with. I've decided not to start from scratch but just build a guitar from bits.
First up. I have no idea what is a good idea for a body.
Alder $190.00
Ash $200.00
Basswood $185.00
Korina (Black) $235.00
Mahogany $200.00
Swamp Ash $200.00
Walnut $235.00
are my options.
Shape (my preferance):
Explorer
Iceman
FireBird

one of those. I like those. I decided I'll save up for an actual SG some day.
Head(includes headstock):
Jackson (standard)
Jackson (Inverted)

Now come to think of it, would a Seven String be harder to assemble than a six?
I want a seven. I want to learn some Dream Theater pieces.
Oh and could I pay a music shop to do the pickups for me?
Dude i love this site! I'm gonna save about 500 and go shoopppp
