I got a ripped copy of Metallica's ...and Justice for All from a friend, then my dad wanted to show me what real metal was and bought me Black Sabbath's self-titled release and Paranoid. I'd still rate these three in my top ten, or as my deserted island albums.
My dad kicks ass!

My first record was a 45 - HONKEY TONK WOMEN by the Rolling Stones.
My first LP was LET IT BE by the Beatles.
I had no idea they would become collectors items. Played the shit out of'em on a Zenith turnrable that could stack up to 6 records on top of each other.
I still have those records but they are toast!!!
This isn't the model (Ours had Am and FM radio. FM sucked-ass in those days, no cool music at all!) but it is pretty close.
I ask you: Is that any way to treat a record?

if my memory serves me correctly....the first new album i bought was Olivia Newton John : Totally hot (which she was,and is)
or maybe it was an Elvis album. one of those Pickwick record label deals that had one of the coolest tunes of all time...Burning Love ! ..... my lip curls and my leg shakes just thinking about it....
now the latest album i bought is easy to remember.....Iron Maiden : A Matter of Life and Death . a super cool 2 picture disc LP set !!! how cool is that ? i am still buying new vinyl in 2007 who'd a thunk it ?
thank you...thank you very much....

First album I ever OWNED? Probably "Funny Bones" by K-Tel. First album I ever bought...that is ENTIRELY different.
I think the first album(s) I ever bought were from Colombia House, where you buy 1 album at regular price, and you get 11 more for a penny...let's see...from what I remember, I got
Kansas - Point of no Return
Foreigner - 4
Rush - Moving Pictures
Styx - the one with "Too Much Time On My Hands"
The Who - the one with "You Better You Bet"
Van Halen - I, II, Women & Children First, Diver Down
...I can't remember the rest. I was like 10 or 11. I remember thinking of what albums my best friend didn't have so we could jam. We always got together and listened to music together. He had almost all the Kiss albums. We used to jump on his bed and play "air" KISS. He was Gene Simmons and I was Ace Frehley! LOL! Good times.
