I want to play BASS!

Hey, everybody, I'm 14 and I've been playing acoustic guitar (steel string) for roughtly 1 1/2 years and I'm recently I've come to the conclusion that I suck at guitar and that I'm getting nowhere with it. So, about a week ago I walked into a music store and noticed a nice bass in the corner plugged in the amp. So I decided to pick it up and play and now I fell in love with it. So now I want to play bass really bad now.

But i just need to know what kind of bass I should get amp etc. Or if I should get lessons

the lesson vs no lesson debate is truley for you to decide... get free online lessons and see how they work. if you learn enough but still feel hungry for knowledge look for 1on1 lessons. 1on1 is best because your instructer is personally devoted to you and all your screwups. as for the type were really gona need some more specifics here not kidding dude. i mean whats the price range youre willing to pay for whole package bass amp cords possibly headphones strap and the works. and what kind of music will you be playing... btw steel sucks...

The great thing about being a bass player is you can almost pick and choose who you want to play with, cuz Bass players are harder to find than guitarists

true to that bro, a third party would confirm and concur to that... BASE PLAYERS are hard to find... so good luck in finding the right band for you... get hooked on base and rock on dude... Laughing

why not play guitar and bass? why classify yourself? if you claim you "suck" at guitar and are giving up, what makes you think you're going to be better at this, and what makes you think you wont say "oh i'm not getting anywhere with this, i better quit and find something else"
