 Last.fm
Alright I really doubt anyone on here uses it, I already figured that before posting this. But in case anyone on GML has a Last.fm page, post it up here. I just finally got back on it after about 6 months, and I deleted all my old friends.

Well, only that they both allow you to have "friends." That's where the similarities end.
It basically is software you can download, that keeps track of all the music you play on your computer, logs it on their webiste, then compares your taste with others. It's really just for nerds like myself who spend most weeknights sitting online listening to stuff. It's a sweet place to discover new (or old) bands as well.

All my music has been ripped from CD's, a good 2030 percent from vinyl's! I do like owning the actual records, I don't download anything. I just add it to my computer so I can listen to it while I waste time online. I hear ya Chuck.

Oh I had about 4,000 songs I downloaded at one time, but I eventually got rid of it all. I believe Mr. GFM has done the same.

ha. are you kidding? last semester, i had a music collection of over 17,000 songs. 48 straight days worth of music...
but i couldn't get over the fact that it was all illegal so i dumped all of the music that i had illegally and now have a legal collection of music that is 4.5 days long. but, i own it all and could tell you where i got all of it

if i bought all those cd's i'd have no money for gear. plus, i say screw the music companies, if i truly respect a band though and feel their record is worth it, i'll buy it just for them! fifteen bucks for a piece of plastic that takes up space in my room? sounds crazy! maybe i have no conscience.

That's where I had issues with paying for music in the first place. It's true that bands make little to no money off of record sales (especially the more obscure they are), all their cash comes from touring and merchandise. However, it's the simple fact that if I were in their position, I really want people to just buy my records as well, even if I didn't see much of that cash. It's principle more than it is about the money.
