Post Electro-Harmonix Holy (Holier & Holiest) Grail
I was at GC the other day and the sales guy was pumping up the Holy Grail (and mentioned the Holier and Holiest) reverb. Anyone have any experience with this guys? Comparable products? etc.

I have the Holy Grail and I am quite happy with it. I have never even messed with the Holier and Holiest though. Just more options, really. The Holiest Grail might be too much for some people.

They're solid digital reverb for sure. I had no idea that a Holier or Holiest models existed, but I was an owner of a Holy Grail for about 6 weeks. Nothing wrong with it, I just got an amplifier also with solid built-in reverb, and I look to downsize my pedal inventory if necessary.

do you prefer digital or spring reverb ?
or does it really matter to you ?

i like spring reverb , but i dig the reverbs in my old ART SGE Mach II ....as long as it sounds good to me , i like it.

here we go ... back to the old " if it sounds good ....it IS good " Very Happy

I really do like Spring reverb, it was a big bonus in my amp. I think the biggest travesty to the Fender Twin reverb re-issues is plate reverb. I think digital almost sounds better, but you're right, it's always possible for plate or digital to hit on a great reverb sound as well.

I really don't know if it is possible to beat fender reverb, at least when it comes to reverb for guitar. It has so much color and flavor. I'm all about analogue/tube/spring reverb.

I think you need a flavorful reverb on guitar, but a clean tight reverb on voice. It all depends i guess, but i have never been much for digital reverb

That is true, the types of reverb for vocals is a fair amount different than what you would want on guitar. Good point.

They are indeed, and indeed they make some very sweet reverbs at the higher end of the market. Their more affordable products are also decent, although I think I personally prefer the TC Electronic reverb units, particularly for guitar.
