So I have decided to get my influences out there. I am into some not so popular guitarists. Please give em a listen. Some of you may have already heard these artists before. No question about it, I may have said it before and I will say it again, Slash is probably my single biggest influence around. (I think that after I have read his book I am even more interested in his sound and creative process). I certainly don't look like Slash nor do I even play music similar to Guns N Roses or anything old school rock has to offer (late 80'2 early 90's). My love for Slash's playing comes from his combination of almost jazzy/bluesy driven solos which are not all about speed, but craft. Slash, like many other great guitarists, has carved out his own signature sound. Instead of using fender's or other notable rock guitars, his chose the Les Paul as his weapon of choice. my first major guitar hero was/is the father of heavy metal ...Mr Tony Iommi. Tony is more than just a heavy metal god, he has an amazing feel for bluesy jazzy solos as well as his metal stuff
and NOBODY has written more great heavy riffs than Tony ...he is the master.

i love Uli Jon Roth for the emotion and feeling that he conveys with his music.
that ability far outshines technical brilliance...which Uli has a ton of.

the late Criss Oliva from Savatage is a huge influence not just because of his incredible talent and skill , but because he could play ANYTHING...rhythm , lead ,....fast,slow..., pretty and clean , nasty and mean , and everything in between.
the guy was amazing.

there are a ton of others ...but these 3 are the major ones.

Love them, though no onewill stand the test of time like Avril Lavigne, the female guitar goddess.

Joe Satriani has a huge influence on my sound and my gear, if not necessarily my technique (although I'd love to be able to play like that!). Other significant influences on my playing are Richie Sambora, Reb Beach, Chris DeGarmo, Paul Gilbert, John Petrucci and Emppu Vuorinen.

My first guitar hero was and still is one of them Ace Frehley. I tried to learn guitar at 10 cause of him. I didn't stay with it then. But 10 years later I picked it up again and 20 years later still playing it. I've been told I have a lot of Michael Schenker in my playing which I consider my main hero. Along with Rhoads and Vaifor their different ways of writing and playing.

BUT numero uno forever is Angus Young, when i say i play like him what i mean is i have a stage presence i can really, once i start playing i feel the music in me, were all playing together just having a great time and i dont care about how much of an idiot i look like. Im gonna JAM and go crazy till i possibly... wet... myself... really happened once...

Anyway im also ifluenced by his gear, i have his guitars, two of them used and signed by him, his ernie ball strings, his fender picks, and his marshall amps/sound system. I also play liek him based of teh penatonic area.. BUT, needless to say i certainly have my own style, creativity and most importantly sound.
